Great News for New Migrants
Australia is becoming ever more multicultural. For instance, the number of Chinese-born Australians has tripled to 450,000 in just 20 years. It is said that the overall international born population is 6.6 million out of the 23.13 million people living in Australia. The number of foreign-born people that make Australia their home keeps growing every year.
Australia has benefited from this process too. For example, Western Australia has experienced strong and sustained economic growth thanks to the positive economic and social contribution new migrants have on the state. The Government of Western Australia values everyone’s effort and is openly inviting more new migrants to move to Western Australia.
Statement from Mr. Pezzullo, the head of the Department of Immigration
“If a nation’s immigration program is well crafted and targeted, and migrants enjoy high levels of economic participation, as distinct from high levels of social exclusion and welfare-dependency, immigration has beneficial impacts in terms of growth in the demand for goods and services; increases in national income, and living standards; improved labour participation; expansion of the economy’s productive capacity; and growth in household consumption and public revenues” – Said.
